All visitors, except citizens of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, need a visa to enter Cambodia. The official price for a tourist visa is US$30 and people from most countries throughout the world can get a visa on arrival. The visa is valid for 30 days for single entry.

The visa on arrival can be obtained at Phnom Penh International Airport and Siem Reap – Angkor International Airport as well as land borders with Vietnam, Thailand and Laos as below:

• From Vietnam: PrekChak – Phnom Den – Kaam Samnor (Mekong river) – Bavet – Trapeang Phlong – Trapeang Are – O’Yadav
• From Laos: Trapaing Kreal – Dong Krolar
• From Thailand: Poipet – O’Smach– Cham Yeam – ChoamSanguam – Prum – Doung – Preah Vihear

Remember to bring 2 recent passport-sized photos and fill in the application form available at the customs offices.

Tourists can also apply for e-visa via the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website at www.evisa.gov.kh with 30USD + 6 USD (processing fee). However, the e-visa is only accepted at seven entry points, which are:

• Siem Reap - Angkor Airport
• Phnom Penh Airport
• Poipet (Thai border)
• Cham Yeam – Koh Kong / Had Lek (Thai border)
• Bavet / MocBai (Vietnam border)
• Tropaeng Kreal Border Post (Stung Treng – Laos border)
• Preah Sihanouk International Airport

The climate in Cambodia is generally hot and humid throughout the year so the best time to visit Cambodia depends on your preferences and priorities:

Dry Season:

• November - May: This is the perfect season with little to no rain, clear skies, and warm temperatures (around 25°C - 30°C). It is ideal for exploring temples, beaches, and other outdoor activities.
• March - May: These months are the hottest and most humid, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C which might be uncomfortable for some.

Shoulder Seasons:

• June - September: This is the rainy season, with frequent showers and occasional thunderstorms. The rain is usually refreshing and short-lived, but it can disrupt some activities.
• October: This is the transition month between the rainy season and the dry season. The weather is generally pleasant with less rain and humidity. It can be a good option if you want to avoid the crowds and still enjoy warm weather.

There are interesting festivals and events that you may time your trip to coincide with:

• November: Bon Om Touk (Water Festival): A three-day celebration with boat races, traditional ceremonies, and fireworks.
• April: Khmer New Year: A national holiday with traditional games, food, and cultural performances.
• May: Visakha Bochea (Buddhist Day): A religious holiday dedicated to the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing away.

The official currency of Cambodia is the Cambodian riel (KHR). The symbol for the riel is ៛.

However, US dollars (USD) are widely accepted throughout the country, especially in tourist areas. Many businesses will readily accept payment in either currency, and you may even receive change in a mix of riel and dollars.

Here are some things to keep in mind about using currency in Cambodia:

• Riel notes come in denominations of 100, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000, 50000, and 100000.
• USD notes are accepted in all denominations, but smaller bills are preferred.
• It is always helpful to carry a small amount of riel for smaller purchases.
• You can exchange your currency for riel and USD at airports, banks, and money exchange offices.
• Be aware of counterfeit riel notes.
• Consider using a credit or debit card for larger purchases.
